What We’re Reading: Purposeful
by Andrew Downing
Purposeful: Are You a Manager or a Movement Starter, by Jennifer Dulski, is a book you’ve never heard of that you need to read. Filled with inspiring stories and great leadership advice, Purposeful will not disappoint.
Dulski is a former President and COO of Change.org, a former Head of Groups & Community at Facebook, a speaker at Singularity University’s Executive Education Program, a lecturer at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, and the CEO and Founder of Rising Team, a company dedicated to helping managers increase employee engagement. Her amazing experience has shown her that creating change can seem like a daunting task, which is why she wrote Purposeful. It’s a blueprint but also contains meaningful leadership lessons. As someone that understands how movements start, Dulski uses great stories to portray how something little can lead to something big. Her insightful look at normal people making a difference is sure to inspire you.
Dulski says, “Knowing whether we’ve had an impact on others is not the point. Living a life in pursuit of a positive impact is what matters.” You don’t have to be extraordinary to create extraordinary change. All it takes is one small step, because you never know where that step will lead.
