Message for March from Sabrina Maron, 50/50 Executive Director
March, designated as Women’s History Month, is an important time for women and for all of us here at 50/50 Leadership.
We honor those who have paved the way - from women's suffrage and reproductive rights, to the women who broke the proverbial glass ceiling in the professional world, civil society, politics, and elsewhere.
March 8 is International Women’s Day, a day when we envision a world with gender equality. This year's theme is "Break the Bias." Click here to read a 50/50 Leadership blog post by Ruth Ann John that highlights four women leaders who challenge bias in various ways.
Every month, 50/50 Leadership’s Money 101 program offers opportunities to learn basic financial literacy skills to women who were formerly foster youth, incarcerated, unhoused, and/or survivors of gender-based violence. And upon completion of the program, the members get further support to develop and achieve their goals through our one-on-one Mentorship Program.
I’m proud to be part of an organization that is changing lives in small and large ways. A recent Money 101 graduate wrote this in response to a gift received upon completion of the program:
“I just had to say thank you … It really made more than just my day, it’s probably the nicest gesture I’ve received in a looooooong time! Thank you SO much! Again, your gift is a big warm hug sprinkled with joy when I really needed it! ❤️Xoxo”
We're busy at 50/50 Leadership planning this year's Women's Equality Summit for April 23rd, to coincide with Financial Literacy Awareness Month. I encourage you to make your reservations now to catch the “early bird discount” for this virtual summit featuring leading professionals and experts in the financial world. We’ve got some amazing stories to share with you!
