Learning Has No Limits

by Kelly Chiang

As children, we are sent to institutions to embark on our academic journey. For the next eighteen years or so, we attend these schools with a sole purpose in mind--to acquire information that is helpful towards our future careers and goals. However, when we complete our academic journey, whether it is after secondary school or university, many people make the decision to stop learning. Perhaps they are burned out from the countless years of studying, causing them to fear the sight of textbooks and notes. At a certain point, learning becomes a chore for them, and they associate it with negativity. Once they leave school behind, they adjust to work life and real life society, and eventually turn to entertainment or other distractions in their off-time. This lack of learning, however, creates a hole in people’s lives and leads to consequences, like staying in a fixed mindset and not improving in their field of expertise.

By ridding the negative connotation that often comes with learning, you can begin to appreciate this insightful process and share this newfound joy with others. Especially in a field of your expertise, it is crucial that you never stop exploring and absorbing information, to ensure that you do not lose your passion as well as motivation. This  allows you to expand upon your forest of knowledge. Each piece of information is like a seed, with the potential to bloom into extravagant flowers. It also reduces the repetition within your days and stimulates your mind, ultimately filling your days with productivity and variety.

To be a great leader, having the ability to adapt and foster new knowledge is vital. In an environment where teamwork is essential, a growth mindset is extremely beneficial because it can also influence people to think more positively, causing them to stick with their goals and see their potential. Especially if there is an obstacle in the way, believing that it can be overcome is a step towards the right direction. This optimistic perspective inspires those who you lead, and sets an example for them to also continue increasing their knowledge.
