Founders Message - December 2021

by Pauline Field

The end of the year has a little more meaning for me this year than usual.  After more than 17 years, I am stepping down from the Chair of 50/50 Leadership.

It has been an amazing ride and we have accomplished a lot – almost all with volunteers, people dedicated and committed to making a difference for women.  What a privilege it has been to work with so many passionate people, from those that came to help with an event, to team leaders who spent months on things like graphics, the website, events and this newsletter. To directors who served on our board, helping to steer the organization in ways that have the most impact.

As well as a long list of events that we have hosted and co-hosted, that have been educational, celebratory or just plain fun, we have run Leadership Circles, a program to train women leaders; shone the spotlight on local women who are doing amazing volunteer work in other countries through the Women of the World Awards; and in the past few years, we have been providing workshops and mentoring to women who have overcome trauma, hardships and victimization.

My successor, Sabrina Maron brings an equal passion, new ideas and fresh leadership.  Sabrina has led our Money 101 workshops and helped create the third edition of what gets taught. Sabrina knows the value of financial literacy and independence for women, one of the key ingredients to unlock leadership potential.

I will miss you all but will follow the progress of 50/50 Leadership as it continues to grow and thrive and make a difference for the women we serve.

Will you join us for a fun evening?  On Saturday, December 11th at 5:00 PST, Chef Rae will be cooking us a grand feast and there are three ways you can join the fun.

One way is to be there with us in Garden Grove, California.  It will be a semi-formal and a chance to taste the delicious food Chef Rae is cooking, and to ask questions as she cooks.  There is limited space, so click here if you want to join us in person.  The second way is to let us do the shopping.  We will deliver the ingredients and the wine to you and you can cook right along with Chef Rae in the comfort of your home.  We will provide enough for two people, so this could be a great date night.  This is also limited in number and to Los Angeles or Orange counties. Click here to register to cook along with Chef Rae.  The third option is to sit back and watch Chef Rae on zoom, or buy your own ingredients and cook along also, your choice. Who doesn’t like a good cooking show?  Click here for this easy and mouthwatering way to watch.
