A Day in the Life of an Intern

Wednesday morning begins early as I have my Communications class at 9:30, the environment is the most welcoming online classroom environment I’ve been in as of late, I love the energy that the professor brings into the class and the students are just so willing to give that energy back, so it’s a fun class to start the day off with. I usually don’t consider myself someone who is good at public speaking or any verbal communication, but I’m always willing to branch outside my
comfort zone and this class has been a safe environment that makes it easy to be comfortable, and I’m thankful for that.

The 50/50 Marketing Team Meetings have also been a safe space for me to share my ideas regarding the graphics I am working on. Currently I am working on revising a series of eight financial literacy graphics that will dive into the past, present and future of women and financial literacy, as well as providing resources for women to involve themselves in financial literacy. These posts were originally to go up during Women’s History Month, but after some discussion,
it was decided that these posts were better suited to be released during April, as it is Financial Literacy Month! I am passionate about the goals of 50/50, one of them in particular is providing resources for women to learn about financial literacy, as I believe it to be a topic that is often intimidating to approach, especially as a woman. I hope my graphics can be an approachable first step for women like myself who, at first, saw financial literacy as something limited to the consciousness of people in the business field, when really, it is an invaluable skill for everyone to have a basic understanding of!

Additionally throughout the day I try to implement little things and habits I do for myself, as through quarantine, a stable sense of self is what I am trying to encourage, and doing the small things is a less intimidating approach that I take as a person not used to doing things for myself.

Some of the habits I’m trying to build for myself:

  • Meditation 10 minutes per day

  • Going on a walk every other day

  • Getting up and out of my seat for a break for every hour that I’m sitting down

  • Reading at least a chapter of the book I am reading every night

  • Taking an hour over the course of the week to do a hobby, whether it be my digital art, sketching, or knitting!

This about wraps up what I do in a day besides seemingly infinite amounts of homework. Thanks for following along on this blog post!
