2021 Year in Review

by Sabrina Maron, 50/50 Leadership Executive Director

As we look to 2022, I’d like to recount just some of what 50/50 Leadership accomplished in 2021. It was an exciting year for me personally as I recently became Executive Director of this incredible organization, and there’s so much I’m grateful for:

  • Our community of volunteers has grown to over 200 of the most dedicated individuals imaginable! Our Marketing team has been getting our message out to the world through gorgeous social media posts and other inspiring communications. Our Mentorship program coordinator, Cindy, has made our one-on-one mentorship program stronger than ever. Our Money 101 team has adopted Salesforce to put us in a position to truly scale and make the biggest possible impact. Our Investing Demystified team has completed and rolled out an all-new investing course. And Chef Rae and our Events team spent weeks preparing for and executing our amazing live hybrid gourmet cooking event..

  • Most importantly, we’ve made a huge impact on the women we serve. In 2021, we offered 21 Money 101 workshop series, a 110% increase compared to 2020. We registered over 100 participants, from 28 agencies across four states - an increase of 175% compared to last year. Our members inspire us to develop, improve, and grow our programs, curricula, and events. We are more passionate and committed than ever to ensuring financial equity for everyone we serve.

  • Our outgoing board members have given so much of themselves and deserve gratitude from our whole community. These incredible people are handing over the reins to an organization that is buzzing with energy, is thoughtful, and mission-driven. At the top of that list is our founder, Pauline Field. We wouldn’t be here without her and her devoted team. Literally.

  • Like so many of you, my family shows me the importance of our vision. My husband and I are raising a teen and a tween, and I badly crave a world for them that is just, equitable, and filled with opportunity.

  • I got to join the nonprofit of my dreams. In my previous career as a financial planner, my best days were the ones spent volunteering in the community - at the LA Public Library or at Lynwood Elementary School. I have long dreamed of helping women learn financial literacy skills, and I am so honored to be entrusted to lead this organization’s next chapter.

This brings me right back to our amazing team of passionate volunteers, contracted staff, and board members. This group is ripe to transform into a tight-knit nationwide community. And we’re just starting to grow! So please be giving if you have the time or resources to donate to 50/50 Leadership.

On to 2022!
